Pune, 18th January 2026: A giant replica of a bicycle has been installed at Bopdev Ghat on the Saswad–Baramati route to commemorate the Pune Grand Tour 2026, an international multi-stage cycling race being held from January 19 to 23 across Pune district.

The massive installation, set up by Aniruddha Deshpande — renowned sports organiser, cycling enthusiast and Managing Director of Amanora — is aimed at creating a visual landmark for the event and boosting Pune’s identity in the global sporting arena. The eye-catching structure has already started drawing attention from commuters and tourists passing through the scenic ghat section.

The replica measures 6 metres in height and 12 metres in length, making it one of the largest symbolic installations associated with a sporting event in the region. Positioned along the official race route, it serves both as a tribute to the Pune Grand Tour and as a photo-friendly attraction for cycling fans and visitors.

The Pune Grand Tour 2026 is India’s first UCI 2.2 category multi-stage continental cycling race, featuring professional riders from more than 35 countries. The event is being seen as a major step in placing Pune on the world map of professional road cycling.

Organisers said such installations and public engagement initiatives are meant to connect citizens with the sport and create long-term interest in cycling culture across Pune and Maharashtra.
