Pune: Vegetable Prices Drop as Supply from Multiple States Increases
Market Yard, 19th January 2026: Prices of several key vegetables fell at Pune’s Gultekdi wholesale market on Sunday due to a surge in arrivals from across Maharashtra and other states. Potato, tomato, garlic, and drumstick (shevga) recorded a decline in rates, while green chilli and Totapuri mango also became cheaper. Prices of most other vegetables remained largely stable, traders said.
Around 100 trucks of vegetables arrived from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, in addition to local supplies. Large volumes of tomatoes (approximately 15,000 crates), onions, potatoes, peas, carrots, cabbage, and capsicum were reported at the Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Market Yard.
The supply of coriander saw a significant increase, with nearly 1.5 lakh bundles arriving from the Pune region. Despite the higher arrivals, prices of coriander and other leafy vegetables such as fenugreek and spinach remained steady.
In the fruit market, arrivals were higher compared to last week. Rates of guava, sweet lime (mosambi), and ber rose by 10–20 per cent, while orange prices declined by about 10 per cent. Prices of other fruits remained largely unchanged, according to traders.
