Pune, 10th February 2026: Acting on the orders of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and under the guidance of the Joint CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma and Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, the Pune City Traffic Police have launched a special drive against triple-seat riding on two-wheelers across the city.
During the drive, traffic teams conducted checks at major roads, busy junctions and congestion-prone areas in Pune. As part of the enforcement action, a total of 1,454 triple-seat two-wheelers were penalised. Officials also recovered 2,144 paid challans on the spot, through which ₹16,18,400 was deposited into the government treasury. In addition, overall action was taken in 5,921 challan cases during the campaign.
The special operation saw active participation from officers and personnel of all 30 traffic divisions along with staff from 44 police stations in Pune city.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav said triple-seat riding on two-wheelers is a punishable offence under the law. “Riding with three people increases the risk of accidents and endangers not only the riders but also other road users,” he said.
The Traffic Police appealed to citizens to strictly follow traffic rules and ensure safe and disciplined driving. “Such special enforcement drives will continue regularly to keep traffic smooth and to reduce the number of accidents in Pune,” Jadhav added.
The Pune Traffic Police have urged the public to cooperate with the authorities and contribute to making city roads safer for everyone.
