Mobility Planning for Simhastha 2027 Reviewed; Focus on Rural Nashik and Trimbakeshwar Connectivity
Nashik, 13th February 2026: The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) convened a high-level mobility planning meeting to review traffic management, parking arrangements and inter-agency coordination in rural Nashik and Trimbakeshwar areas in view of Simhastha 2027.
The meeting, chaired by IG Nashik Dattatray Karale and was attended by NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh, Nashik Rural SP Balasaheb Patil, Additional SP Aditya Mirkhelkar, and Superintendent of Police, Highway Traffic, Rupali Ambure, NTKMA Additional commissioner Saureesh Sahay and SDPO Vasudev Desale. For the meeting senior officials from Public Works Department (PWD), and the team of IIM-Nagpur and IIT-Delhi was also present to deliberate on integrated transport and mobility strategies during the upcoming mega event.
Discussions centred on planning for major approach roads in Nashik rural, traffic dispersal routes, parking management and strengthening connectivity towards Trimbakeshwar. Special focus was laid on ensuring smooth vehicular movement towards key pilgrimage and religious locations in the region, anticipating a significant influx of devotees during peak bathing days.
Officials reviewed the need for coordinated traffic regulation, signage, route rationalisation and contingency planning to prevent congestion in critical stretches. The importance of advance planning for crowd and vehicle segregation, especially in sensitive and high-footfall zones, was also emphasised.
NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “Simhastha 2027 will require meticulous mobility planning across both urban and rural jurisdictions. Our approach is to prepare a seamless and coordinated transport framework in advance, with clear role definition among departments. Early planning and inter-agency alignment will be key to ensuring safe and efficient movement of devotees.”
The meeting forms part of a series of preparatory reviews being undertaken by NTKMA to streamline infrastructure and mobility arrangements well ahead of the event.
