Over 60 Billion Bot Requests Target Railway E-Ticketing System in Six Months; 3.03 Crore Suspicious IDs Deactivated
New Delhi, 13th February 2026: The railway e-ticketing system faced massive bot traffic over the past six months, with more than 60 billion automated requests detected and denied, according to information presented in the Rajya Sabha.
The data shows that in December 2025, out of 14.28 billion total requests, 7.25 billion were identified as bots. In November 2025, 14.03 billion of 20.07 billion requests were bots, while in October 2025, 17.00 billion bot requests were recorded out of 24.04 billion total requests. Similarly, September 2025 saw 12.05 billion bot requests out of 19.04 billion, August 2025 recorded 5.07 billion bot requests out of 11.04 billion, and July 2025 logged 5.03 billion bot requests out of 9.06 billion total requests.
The government stated that honeypot sensors have been deployed to monitor attacker behaviour, suspicious events, and intrusion attempts, helping security teams analyse tactics and strengthen cyber defence. Security log monitoring of the system is being carried out by an on-premises security team for detection and mitigation of incidents.
Administrative measures have also been implemented to prevent unauthorised access and ensure seamless booking for genuine users. Rigorous revalidation and verification of user accounts led to the deactivation of about 3.03 crore suspicious user IDs in 2025.
Regular security audits of the reservation system are conducted by CERT-In empanelled Information Security Audit Agencies. Internet traffic related to the ticketing system is continuously monitored by the CERT-In and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre to detect and prevent cyber attacks.
Further, 376 complaints related to 3.99 lakh suspicious bookings were lodged on the National Cyber Crime Portal, and 12,819 suspicious email domains were blocked during 2025.
