Football: Pune District Team Enters in Quarter Finals of Maharashtra State Inter-District Championship
Pune, 14th February 2026: Pune District Team easily defeated the Raigad District Team 2-0 to reach the quarter finals in the Maharashtra State Inter-District Championship Sub-Junior Group Football Tournament organized by the Western India Football Association (WIFA).
In this tournament, which was being held at Lal Bahadur Shastri College, Dharamabad, Nanded, the Pune District Team dominated the entire match and took the lead by scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes. Hitansh Khatri opened the account for the Pune team in the sixth minute. Then Hitansh’s goal from 18 yards was accurate. Then Johann Joseph hit a ‘long shot’ and the ball hit the goal straight into the goal, giving the Pune team a significant lead of 2-0. In the second half, both the teams failed to score. Pune team maintained this lead throughout the entire match and advanced to the next round.
Teams from Ahmednagar, Osmanabad, Kolhapur, Wardha, Bhandara, Buldhana, Akola, Parbhani, Amravati, Nanded, Raigad, Beed, Nandurbar, Solapur, Nashik, Sangli, Jalna, Nagpur, Gondia, Latur, Chandrapur, Ratnagiri, Dhule, Mumbai and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts participated in this tournament.
