The ceremony, organised by the university’s NCC unit, was held at the Department of Education and Extension. Sakshi was honoured for leading the guard contingent at the Prime Minister’s Rally during the Republic Day Camp, a distinction considered among the highest honours for NCC cadets.
University dignitaries including Dr Sanjay Tambat, Dean of the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies; Prof Geeta Shinde, Head of the Department of Education and Extension; Dr Vilas Adhav, Director of the School of Education; Senate members Aparna Lalingkar and Krishna Bhandalkar; and ANO Lt Ashish Sangle attended the event and praised her dedication, discipline and leadership.
Officials said the felicitation aimed to motivate other cadets in the university’s NCC programme to strive for similar accomplishments at state and national levels.
The university’s NCC unit was sanctioned in September 2022 with a strength of 100 cadets. Singh is the first cadet from the university’s unit to represent the Maharashtra Directorate at the Prime Minister’s Rally as part of the Republic Day Camp.
