Raheja Sterling Residents Face Prolonged Power Outage; MSEDCL Assurances Fail to Ease Frustration
Reported by Shoaib Tadvi
Mohammadwadi, 30th October 2026: Residents of Raheja Sterling residential society have been without electricity since 9 pm on Wednesday, with repeated delays in power restoration triggering frustration among residents and raising questions over the response of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
According to residents, despite repeatedly contacting the MSEDCL helpline and concerned officials, they were continuously assured that electricity would be restored within two hours. These assurances continued until around 2 am, after which residents were informed that the supply would be restored the following day.
However, the uncertainty continued on Thursday. At around 5 pm, officials at the MSEDCL substation reportedly assured residents that electricity would be restored by midnight. Following several missed deadlines, residents expressed concerns that the latest assurance might also remain unfulfilled, potentially extending the outage beyond 24 hours.
Raj Singh, a resident of the society, said, “Residents have been without electricity since 9 pm, and despite repeatedly contacting MSEDCL officials and the helpline, we have received nothing but assurances. Every time, we are told that electricity will be restored within two hours, but the deadlines keep changing. There is no proper communication or accountability. Residents are suffering, and the authorities must take immediate action.”
Ashok Mehende also expressed concern over the prolonged disruption and the lack of communication from the authorities. He said, “It is extremely disappointing that residents of a residential society have to struggle for basic electricity for such a long period. Even after repeated complaints, MSEDCL officials have failed to provide a clear explanation or a definite restoration timeline. We demand accountability from the concerned officials and a permanent solution to prevent such prolonged outages in the future.”
Residents have also alleged that helpline representatives have been unresponsive and have failed to provide clear information about the cause of the outage or reliable updates on restoration.
Questioning the prolonged disruption despite advancements in infrastructure and technology, residents said that even a premium residential society was being left without electricity for hours without proper communication from the concerned authorities.
They have demanded immediate intervention from MSEDCL, accountability from responsible officials and a definite timeline for restoring the electricity supply.
