Pune, 5th March 2026: Ultra-distance cyclist and entrepreneur Kanthi Dutt is set to begin a 750-kilometre cycling expedition from Hyderabad to Mumbai on March 7, an endurance journey aimed at promoting community-driven fitness and active lifestyles. The seven-day ride is being undertaken in association with the Sports Authority of India and will pass through multiple cities across Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

As part of the expedition, Pune will serve as a significant halt in the journey. Dutt is expected to reach the city on March 12 after completing approximately 500 kilometres of cycling. The stopover will include a community fitness interaction at Phoenix Marketcity Pune, bringing together members of the city’s running, cycling and wellness communities.

According to officials, the initiative is designed not only as a personal endurance challenge but also as a platform to engage with young people and promote awareness about the importance of regular physical activity.

Mayank Srivastava, Deputy Director General of the Sports Authority of India, said the expedition seeks to encourage on-ground participation and conversations around health and fitness. “Through this 750-kilometre cycling expedition, we aim to create meaningful engagement across Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The outreach will go beyond the ride itself, with structured interactions and discussions at universities and colleges along the route. As a Fit India Ambassador, Kanthi Dutt has consistently demonstrated commitment to community-driven wellness, and this initiative reflects the spirit of the Fit India Movement by encouraging citizens, particularly young people, to integrate cycling and active living into their everyday routines,” he said.

During the Pune stop, Dutt will interact with members of the local fitness community at an event scheduled at Phoenix Marketcity. The gathering will include runners, cyclists, wellness enthusiasts and content creators, offering an opportunity to discuss endurance training, recovery and sustainable health practices.

Anshuman Bharadwaj, Senior Centre Director at Phoenix Malls Pune, said the venue was pleased to host the interaction as part of the expedition’s 500-kilometre milestone. “Phoenix Marketcity Pune is pleased to host Kanthi Dutt and the community interaction during his Hyderabad-to-Mumbai cycling expedition. We believe that modern public spaces can also function as community hubs where people come together for meaningful experiences. This initiative brings Pune’s fitness community together and supports the idea of encouraging an active lifestyle across age groups,” he said.

The event will begin with a community Zumba and fitness session led by the team from Multifit Pune, which is the official fitness partner for the Pune interaction. This will be followed by a session in which Dutt will speak about endurance sports, resilience and the science of recovery in long-distance cycling.

Actor Ayaan Lall will also participate in the interaction, discussing youth engagement in fitness and the importance of maintaining consistency in daily routines. The programme will include a conversation between Lall and Dutt, as well as a discussion between Dutt and nutritionist Amita Gadre on the role of nutrition and structured recovery in athletic performance and overall wellbeing.

The evening will conclude with an open audience interaction and a media engagement session. The programme will be hosted by celebrity presenter Nayandeep Rakshit.

Organisers say the Pune halt reflects the broader aim of the expedition: encouraging communities to view fitness not as a short-term challenge but as a long-term lifestyle commitment. The initiative is supported under corporate social responsibility programmes by publicity trading firms MIC Electronics Ltd and Sai Silks Kalamandir Ltd.
