Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch Arrests Woman in Daylight Burglaries; Stolen Gold Worth Rs 8 Lakh Recovered
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 10th March 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch has arrested a 35-year-old woman accused of carrying out a series of daytime housebreakings in the Sangvi area and recovered stolen gold jewellery worth around ₹8 lakh from her possession.
Police identified the accused as Suman Datta Londhe, a resident of Ram Nagar in Pune’s Warje Malwadi locality. Investigators said her arrest has helped solve two burglary cases registered at Sangvi Police Station.
According to officials, the breakthrough came during the investigation of a housebreaking case reported on February 25, 2026, in which gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹5 lakh were stolen from a residence. The case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Dr Shivaji Pawar said the Crime Branch’s Unit 1 team launched a detailed probe, analysing footage from more than 200 CCTV cameras along routes between Sangvi and Warje Malwadi. The footage eventually helped investigators identify a woman suspected to be involved in the burglary.
Acting on technical analysis and confidential information, the police traced Londhe and detained her for questioning. During interrogation, she allegedly admitted to committing another daylight burglary in October 2025 in the same Sangvi area.
Following her arrest, police recovered gold jewellery worth about ₹8 lakh, which they believe was stolen in the two cases.
Investigators said the accused used a relatively simple method to target houses. She would look for homes where residents had hidden spare keys outside before leaving for travel. Londhe would then check common hiding spots such as under doormats or inside shoe racks to retrieve the keys and gain entry into the houses.
Police said the operation was carried out under the supervision of Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Commissioner of Police, Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Joint Commissioner of Police, Sarang Awad, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), and DCP Dr Shivaji Pawar.
The action was led by Senior Police Inspector Narendra Thakare along with officers and personnel of Crime Branch Unit 1, and further investigation into the case is ongoing, officials added.
