Pune: Fee Hike, CCTV and Hostel Delay Issues Spark ABVP Protest at ILS Law College in Pune
Pune, 16th March 2026: A protest staged by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at ILS Law College in Pune ended on Monday after the college administration assured that the issues raised by students would be addressed.
The demonstration, organised by the ABVP’s Pune city unit, highlighted several concerns related to campus infrastructure and student facilities. Among the issues raised were the poor condition of the road near Gate No. 5, the absence of CCTV cameras in classrooms for security, and the delay in renovation work at the hostel building, which students claimed has remained pending for nearly a year.
Protesters also pointed out the lack of clean drinking water facilities within the campus and the absence of a proper canteen arrangement, saying these shortcomings were affecting students’ daily routine and academic life.
Another key concern raised during the agitation was the recent fee hike. ABVP representatives alleged that the increase was not in line with the guidelines of the Fee Regulatory Authority (FRA).

According to ABVP leaders, the organisation had earlier submitted written reminders to the college administration on February 24 and March 10, urging it to resolve the issues. However, they claimed that no concrete steps were taken, prompting the student body to organise the protest on campus.
The agitation continued for nearly three to three-and-a-half hours, after which the college administration issued a written assurance stating that the demands would be reviewed and necessary action would be taken.
Speaking during the protest, Radhey Bahegawankar, Pune city minister of ABVP, said it was unfortunate that students at a reputed institution like ILS Law College were facing difficulties due to a lack of basic facilities.
He also warned that if the administration fails to implement the promised measures in the coming days, the organisation may intensify its agitation.
