Pune, 21st March 2026: Farmers in Daund taluka have been hit hard after unseasonal rain and a hailstorm on March 18 and 19 damaged standing crops, triggering fresh concerns over losses and livelihoods.

Daund MLA Rahul Kul has asked officials from the revenue and agriculture departments to carry out immediate field inspections and assess the extent of the damage. The survey process is set to begin on the ground from Saturday.

The officials said the western belt of the taluka was the worst hit, with villages such as Yavat, Yavat Station, Undawadi, Khamgaon, Khanote, Pilanwadi, Dahitane and Rahu reporting significant losses. Crops including onion, vegetables, orchards and fodder have been severely affected.

Kul said, “This is a major crisis for farmers. I have instructed the concerned departments to carry out immediate and transparent assessments. No affected farmer should be left out of the survey process.”

He added that officials have been asked to prepare an objective report at the earliest and submit it to the state government to ensure timely compensation and assistance to the affected farmers.
