Pune, 28th March 2026: Responding to public demand, the groundbreaking ceremony for a new police chowki (outpost)— being constructed in the Ramtekdi area by the city-based Naiknavare family, who are active in the real estate sector, was recently performed at the hands of Pune’s Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.

The ceremony was attended by Hadapsar constituency MLA Chetan Tupe, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajlaxmi Shivankar, CEO of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority Satishkumar Khadke, local Corporator Hemlata Magar, as well as Hemant Naiknavare, Ranjit Naiknavare, Gauri Naiknavare, and others members of the Naiknavare family.

Speaking on the occasion, Amitesh Kumar said, “Last year, the State Government approved the establishment of 12 new police stations in Pune. The city of Pune is currently witnessing the largest recruitment drive in the state, with 1,800 new police personnel being inducted. Once their recruitment and training are complete, sufficient manpower will be available for the police force to manage these new police stations.

Approximately 30,000 citizens reside in the slum areas of Ramtekdi. Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued strict instructions to officials to map this region, identify individuals involved in illicit activities, and compile a list of juvenile offenders (under the age of 10), offering them an opportunity for rehabilitation. He further directed that if these individuals fail to show any signs of reform even after this intervention, they should be subjected to a public “parade” (public display/shaming) as a punitive measure.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar recalled an incident that occurred in the Ramtekdi area last October, following which a delegation of local citizens approached him. He noted that, within a mere 24 hours of that meeting, they had successfully established a functional police chowki within a shipping container at the site. He reiterated that their objective is to completely eradicate crime from the area and to usher in an era of peace and order—akin to “Ramrajya”—within the Ramtekdi locality. Furthermore, Commissioner Kumar urged the corporators elected to the Municipal Corporation to initiate specific plans aimed at making their respective wards completely free of drugs and illicit activities.

The newly constructed police chowki is expected to significantly enhance the security and safety of the Ramtekdi area. This police outpost is set to be a three-story structure. Speaking on the occasion, Chetan Tupe remarked that organizations like CREDAI need to take the initiative to undertake the renovation of the municipal school located in the Ramtekdi area.

Upon receipt of the necessary construction blueprint for the police outpost, it was granted immediate approval. A state-of-the-art, three-story police outpost is set to be constructed at this location. Consequently, this area will gain a protective shield, stated Satishkumar Khadke, CEO of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority.

The State Government has successfully formulated an excellent regulatory framework for slum rehabilitation. Hemant Naiknavare stated that their endeavor is to establish a high-quality hospital in this locality. He added that they are also exploring ways to develop excellent amenities for the local residents—such as a modern multiplex—and to create superior recreational facilities for walking and leisure within the Ramtekdi precinct. Furthermore, Naiknavare mentioned that they conduct free educational classes for the children of this area and are actively striving to ensure that these children receive access to top-notch educational facilities.

During his vote of thanks, Ranjit Naiknavare announced that the construction of the Ramtekdi police outpost would be completed expeditiously, and it is their intention to inaugurate the facility on the upcoming occasion of Dussehra.
