Pune, 1st April 2026: The central government’s Jan-Man Yojana, launched to support rural housing, received a strong response. However, financial constraints left many poor families unable to complete their homes. Addressing this gap, Project Aashiyana, by the Rotary Club of Bibwewadi Pune and Param Nishchay Foundation, led by Sushant Gupta and Parminder Kaur, has stepped in to assist.

In the first phase, the initiative completed 37 unfinished houses for Katkari families in Vadgaon Dal village of Bhor taluka. The project now aims to expand its reach and complete 500 such houses across Pune district.

Details of the initiative were shared at the recently held Asmita Symposium at JW Marriott on Senapati Bapat Road. The event was attended by Rotary Club President Bhavin Desai, Secretary Narendra Sancheti, along with Wardhman Gandhi, Ankush Parakh, and Pune Zilla Parishad Project Director Shalini Kadu.

Ankush Parakh explained that although many families received government support, their houses remained incomplete, leading to major difficulties, especially during summer and the monsoon when they had to rely on plastic sheets due to the absence of proper roofs. To address this, the Aashiyana initiative conducted village visits and surveys to understand the specific needs of each family, and carried out essential work such as installing roofs and doors, painting, and completing construction. He further stated that the initiative will be expanded to more villages, including areas like Manchar and Chakan, to support a larger number of families.

Wardhman Gandhi shared that most people in the village belong to the Katkari community and work as daily wage laborers, so they could not afford to complete their homes. He added that receiving fully built houses brought great happiness and relief to the families, and seeing their joy was very satisfying.

Secretary Narendra Sancheti said, “The Rotary Club of Bibwewadi Pune identified needy families by using the list of incomplete houses provided by the Zilla Parishad and conducting proper verification and surveys.” He added that the goal is to expand Project Aashiyana further in the near future and reach more families in need.
