Pune: PMPML Bus Runs over Pedestrian near Swargate, Driver Booked
Swargate, 10th April 2026: A pedestrian was killed after being run over by a PMPML bus near Swargate Metro station on Thursday night. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. Police have registered a case against the bus driver.
According to officials, the bus was travelling from Katraj towards Swargate when the incident occurred in front of the metro station. The victim was attempting to cross the road when he allegedly came under the rear wheel of the bus, leading to his death.
The body has been sent for identification, and efforts are underway to ascertain the identity of the deceased, police said. The bus driver has been taken into custody. During questioning, he told police that the pedestrian was running while crossing the road and suddenly came under the rear wheel of the bus.
Meanwhile, traffic congestion in the Swargate area due to autorickshaws halting in a disorderly manner has been a persistent issue. Traffic police had recently taken action against rickshaw drivers stopping near the ST stand entrance.
