Pune: ACB Arrests Lohgaon PSI for Taking Rs 80,000 Bribe to ‘Help’ in Case

Pune, 2nd May 2026 : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Pune has arrested a police sub-inspector from Lohgaon police station for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Bhalchandra Barate (38), who was posted at Lohgaon Police Station.

According to ACB officials, the accused had initially demanded Rs 70,000 from the complainant to help in a Non-Cognisable (NC) case registered at Lohgaon police station. However, during verification, the bribe amount was increased to Rs 80,000.

The complainant had approached the ACB on April 30, 2026, following which a verification of the demand was conducted. During the inquiry, it was confirmed that the officer had sought the bribe in exchange for providing assistance in a case and extending future help.

Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on May 1, 2026, at around 6:47 pm at Lohgaon Police Station. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs 80,000.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Suhas Hedkar and Anil Wagh.

Officials said a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at Lohgaon Police Station, Pune.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
