Pune, 1st May 2026: The Film and Television Institute of India has decided to reconduct its entrance examination across the country after irregularities and a major disruption at its Delhi centre led to the cancellation of the test held on April 26.

The decision follows an incident at the Delhi centre where candidates allegedly breached the strong room amid delays in the distribution of question papers. Officials said the situation escalated into a law and order issue, requiring the presence of police personnel along with FTII observers.

In response, the institute constituted a three-member committee led by the registrar to review the incident and recommend the way forward.

Announcing the decision, the registrar said a fresh examination will be conducted for all candidates and across all papers to ensure a “fair, uniform and credible” assessment process. The move, the institute said, was necessitated by concerns over the integrity of the examination following operational lapses and the disruption at the Delhi centre.

According to the official notice, candidates will not be required to submit fresh applications, and those already registered will be eligible to appear for the re-test. The revised schedule and admit cards will be uploaded on the institute’s website in due course, with at least one month’s notice to be given to candidates.

The institute also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and said measures are being put in place to ensure that the re-examination is conducted in a smooth and transparent manner.

The decision comes after the FTII Students’ Association had demanded cancellation and rescheduling of the परीक्षा following the incident.
