Pune, 13th May 2026: Pune Mayor Manjusha Nagpure directed the civic administration to fast-track the development of 32 major roads across the city and ensure that all related works are completed within the current financial year.

During a review meeting held on Wednesday, the Mayor instructed officials to immediately complete the budgetary, financial, and administrative approvals, along with the tendering process, for the proposed road development works. She also directed the administration to accelerate the land acquisition process for the Shivane–Kharadi Road and the Mhatre Bridge area to avoid delays in the projects.

The meeting was attended by additional municipal commissioners, department heads, and deputy commissioners. Officials informed the Mayor that development work for major roads in the 32 villages recently merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits is currently underway. A special cell has also been established in some areas to expedite land acquisition and possession processes.

The Mayor stressed the importance of completing all excavation-related works before the onset of the monsoon. Officials informed the meeting that several road projects are being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, while some works are being carried out through the credit note mechanism.

The administration also stated that Development Plan (DP) roads in the Kharadi area are progressing steadily, while the Kharadi–Mundhwa bridge project has reached its final stage. Around 70 percent of footpath and chamber repair works across the city have also been completed, the Mayor said.

During the review of the Cultural and Sports Department, instructions were issued to establish a stronger system for the maintenance and cleanliness of theatres. The Mayor also emphasised revising theatre charges and speeding up the process for sports and other civic awards.

Work related to gardens, civic projects, and property management departments was also reviewed, with directions issued to improve the pace of execution.

Advanced Grievance Redressal Portal Planned

To improve transparency and efficiency in addressing citizens’ complaints, the Mayor directed the Information Technology Department to develop an advanced grievance redressal portal.

The proposed portal will include features such as “before and after” photographs of completed works, transparent complaint tracking, and chatbot support for citizens. The administration has also been instructed to focus on digitisation of municipal operations and develop a unique ID system for urban poor beneficiaries.
