Pune: Birthday Cake-Cutting on Busy Road in Yerawada Lands Former NCP Corporator in Trouble, Case Registered
Pune, 25th May 2026: Pune Police have booked a former corporator of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), his son and several others for allegedly creating a public nuisance by celebrating a birthday on a busy road in Yerawada.
According to police, the group had allegedly placed a table in the middle of the road and cut a cake, causing obstruction to traffic and disturbance in the area. The incident reportedly took place in Yerawada.
A case has been registered by the Pune Police at the Lakshminagar police station against former corporator Kishor Rajaram Vitkar (51), his son, and six to seven others.
Police said the accused were booked for creating obstruction on a public road, disturbing public peace and engaging in unruly behaviour in a public place.
Officials said the action was part of a larger crackdown against public hooliganism and disruptive birthday celebrations on roads and at public places in the city. Police have warned that strict action will continue against those found violating law and order under the guise of celebrations.
