Pune Set to Get 1,000 Jobs as Maharashtra Signs Rs 400-Crore MoU with Aggreko India
Mumbai, 25th May 2026: The state government on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with energy solutions company Aggreko India for setting up a global engineering and manufacturing facility in Pune district with an investment of Rs 400 crore, a move expected to generate around 1,000 direct jobs over the next decade.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai.
According to the state government, the proposed facility will come up at Phulgaon in Pune district and work on the project is expected to begin later this year. Officials said the centre would become Aggreko’s most significant global engineering and manufacturing hub outside Scotland.
Speaking at the event, Fadnavis said Pune was rapidly emerging as a major hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and welcomed Aggreko’s expansion plans in Maharashtra. He said the state government would extend all necessary support to the company, including approvals, registrations and administrative clearances as per existing industrial policies.
Aggreko India operates in the field of energy and temperature control solutions. The proposed facility is expected to strengthen the local supply chain ecosystem and provide opportunities for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to integrate with global supply chains.
The state government said the project would also boost Maharashtra’s capabilities in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering and energy equipment production.
Officials said the company plans to focus on energy-efficient and sustainable technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon emissions and supporting climate resilience measures across sectors.
Senior officials present at the signing ceremony included additional chief secretary Lokesh Chandra, industries principal secretary Dr P Anbalagan, investment advisor Kaustubh Dhavse, Aggreko India director Sunny Thakrar, group head Stephen Rea and managing director Rahul Khare.
