Unique harmonium based musical presentation at UGAM
Pune, 1st June 2026: The fifth edition of UGAM, a distinctive musical initiative conceptualized by harmonium player, vocalist and composer Tanmay Deochake, will be held this year in Pune. As part of the annual event, students learning harmonium under Tanmay from across the globe gather in Pune city to present specially curated musical compositions.
The program will take place on Sunday, June 7th at the MES Balshikshan Auditorium in Mayur Colony, Pune. The event will be held in two sessions. The morning session will start at 9:30am and shall feature performances by students of Swaranuja, while the evening session will be at 5:30pm at shall present Tanmay in Harmony, an experimental showcase by Tanmay Deochake featuring his original compositions.
Known for its innovative presentations, UGAM showcases compositions specially designed around the harmonium as the central instrument. The performances feature a blend of Indian classical music, Western music and folk traditions, accompanied by various musical instruments and presented by students of Swaranuja.
One of the major highlights of this year’s programme will be Harmonium Raita, a unique composition that combines Indian classical music with Western hip-hop elements. The presentation will feature 15 harmonium players performing together in a jugalbandi format. Along with this, audiences will also get to hear newly composed tunes by Tanmay Deochake for traditional abhangs. A fresh musical interpretation of Indrajimi Jambh Par, a well-known poetic verse by Bhushan that recently gained popularity on social media, will also be presented during UGAM.
A special feature of UGAM every year is the presence of eminent artistes from the field of music. Continuing the tradition, renowned vocalist Vidushi Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar will attend the event as chief guest this year. The annual Shri Gopalrao Deochake Scholarship will also be awarded to a deserving student at her hands.
Music lovers and audiences have been invited to attend the programme by Tanmay Deochake and the Swaranuja family.
The accompanying artistes for the event include Soham Gorane and Anish Thatte (tabla), Rohit Khavale (pakhawaj), Tanmay Pawar (electric guitar), Shreyas Kadkol (bass guitar), Abhishek Bhuruk (drums), Jay Suryavanshi (keyboard) and Mukta Joshi-Vaidya (vocals).
