iPhone Fold First Look: Leaked Dummy Unit Shows Apple’s Upcoming Foldable Phone
New Delhi, 1st June 2026: Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone may still be months away from launch, but fresh leaks have offered what could be the clearest look yet at the company’s first foldable device.
Dummy units and leaked renders of the alleged foldable iPhone, widely expected to be called the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, have surfaced online, revealing Apple’s possible approach to the foldable smartphone segment. The leaks suggest that Apple may opt for a wider, book-style foldable design instead of the taller form factor currently used by Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold lineup.
According to multiple reports and leaked dummy units shared by well-known tipster Sonny Dickson, the device appears to feature a passport-style folding mechanism, opening into a tablet-like display when unfolded. The design has drawn comparisons to Google’s Pixel Fold, with a shorter and wider outer screen aimed at making everyday use more practical without needing to open the device.
A recently surfaced dummy unit video reportedly shows the device measuring around 117 mm in height and 84 mm in width when folded, while unfolding into an ultra-thin form factor measuring just over 5 mm thick. The design also includes a noticeable rear camera bump and side-mounted buttons similar to current iPhone models.
Leaked case renders and replica units have further hinted at a dual-camera setup on the rear and a near edge-to-edge internal display. Reports suggest Apple is working on reducing the visible crease that has remained one of the biggest challenges for foldable smartphones. Some leaks even claim the company is developing a specialised hinge system and advanced display technology to deliver a nearly crease-free experience.
If the rumours are accurate, the foldable iPhone could feature a 7.8-inch internal OLED display and a 5.5-inch cover screen. The device is also expected to run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset and could bring back Touch ID through a side-mounted fingerprint sensor instead of relying entirely on Face ID.
However, Apple’s entry into the foldable market may not be entirely smooth. Recent reports indicate that the company is facing production and engineering challenges, particularly related to manufacturing and durability requirements. These issues could potentially delay large-scale production and affect the final launch timeline.
The foldable smartphone segment has already seen several generations of devices from Samsung, Google, Huawei, and other brands, with manufacturers spending years refining hinge mechanisms, display durability, and software optimisation. Apple, which has traditionally entered new product categories later than competitors, appears to be focusing heavily on hardware polish and ecosystem integration before making its debut in the foldable market.
While Apple has not officially confirmed the existence of a foldable iPhone, the growing number of supply chain leaks, dummy units, and accessory-maker renders suggest that the company’s first foldable device could finally be approaching reality.
For now, the leaked dummy units offer an early glimpse into what may become one of Apple’s biggest hardware changes in years, though the final design, specifications, and launch timeline remain unconfirmed.
