Hadapsar, 5th June 2026: Vehicular movement in parts of Pune’s Kalepadal area was disrupted on Friday after a drinking water pipeline burst near the Sayyadnagar Railway Gate Underpass, prompting the Pune Traffic Police to implement temporary traffic diversions to prevent congestion and ensure commuter safety.

According to the revised traffic arrangements, vehicles travelling from the Sayyadnagar Underpass towards Hadapsar and Ramtekdi will be allowed to move in a single direction.

However, traffic heading from Hadapsar towards the Sayyadnagar Railway Gate Underpass has been completely closed until further notice.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare appealed to motorists to cooperate with the authorities and use the designated alternate routes.

“Due to the bursting of a drinking water pipeline near the Sayyadnagar Railway Gate Underpass, temporary traffic diversions have been implemented in the interest of public safety and to facilitate repair work. Citizens are requested to use the Kalepadal Underpass or the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bridge as alternative routes and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed on the spot,” Dr. Bhajibhakare said.

The Pune Traffic Police have advised commuters travelling towards Sayyadnagar from Hadapsar to avoid the affected stretch and follow the diversion routes to minimise delays.

Emergency service vehicles, including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and police vehicles, have been exempted from the traffic restrictions.

Officials said the diversions will remain in effect until the pipeline repair work is completed and normal traffic movement is restored.
