Viman Nagar, 5th June 2026: Lakhs of residents in Nagar Road, Vishrantwadi, Viman Nagar, Dhanori, Lohgaon, Kharadi and Wadgaon Sheri have been grappling with a supply of yellowish and foul-smelling water for the past 21 days.

Despite repeated complaints from citizens, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Water Supply Department has so far failed to determine the exact cause of the problem, raising serious concerns about civic administration and public health.

The affected areas receive water from the Bhama Askhed Dam. Although laboratory tests conducted by the civic body have reportedly certified the water as potable, residents continue to complain about its yellowish colour and unpleasant odour, leading to growing frustration among consumers.

Several residents have also reported that muddy and turbid water flows from taps for nearly the first half hour after the water supply begins, further intensifying concerns over water quality.

The issue was highlighted during a press conference addressed by former corporator Dr Siddharth Dhende and corporator Nandini Dhende. They questioned how water that appears clean at the treatment plant reaches consumers in a contaminated condition and demanded a comprehensive investigation into the entire distribution network.

They warned that if the issue of contaminated water supply is not resolved immediately, it could have serious health consequences for lakhs of citizens. The Dendes also cautioned that if the PMC fails to identify and address the problem within the next two days, they will launch an agitation against the civic administration.
