Pune: Minor Argument Over Spitting in Society Lift Escalates Into Knife Attack in Pimpri
Pimpri, 13th June 2026: A dispute over alleged spitting inside a residential lift escalated into a violent knife attack on a couple in Pimpri’s Morwadi area. The incident, which took place on Wednesday night, has sparked concern among local residents after CCTV footage of the assault surfaced.
According to police, the altercation began over allegations that someone had spat on a shoe rack kept inside the lift of a housing society. What started as a minor argument soon turned into a confrontation, during which the accused allegedly attacked a person with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds.
Following a complaint, police registered a case against a woman and a juvenile. The woman has been arrested, while action has also been initiated against the minor in accordance with legal provisions.
The attack has triggered tension in the locality, with both sides levelling allegations against each other. While the complainant’s family has accused the suspects of carrying out a life-threatening assault, the accused woman’s husband, has claimed that his family had been subjected to harassment by the complainants for several days.
He further alleged that members of the complainant’s family had entered their residence and assaulted his 17-year-old son.
Police said they are examining the allegations and counter-allegations made by both families. Officials from the Sant Tukaram Nagar police station are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of the probe.
