Pune, 15th June 2026: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has increased the retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 1 per kg and domestic piped natural gas (PNG) by Rs 85 paise per standard cubic metre (SCM) in Pune and adjoining areas, with the revised rates coming into effect from midnight of June 15-16.

Following the revision, the retail selling price of CNG in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Chakan, Talegaon and Hinjewadi has been increased from Rs 94.75 per kg to Rs 95.75 per kg.

MNGL said the hike was necessitated by an increase in the input cost of natural gas supplied for the CNG segment. The company, however, maintained that CNG continues to remain a cost-effective fuel option despite the increase.

According to MNGL, CNG currently offers savings of around 47 per cent compared to petrol and about 25 per cent compared to diesel for passenger vehicles in Pune. Autorickshaw operators can also expect savings of around 25 per cent compared to diesel, the company said.

The company has also revised domestic PNG rates from Rs 50.65 per SCM to Rs 51.50 per SCM in the same areas.

The revised prices will be applicable from midnight of June 15-16, and consumers have been advised to take note of the changes.
