From Virtual Moonwalks to Mango Saplings: Pune Airport’s Yatri Suvidha Diwas Delights Passengers
Viman Nagar, 15th June 2026: Pune Airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), celebrated Yatri Suvidha Diwas 2026 with a series of passenger-centric, cultural, environmental, health and community outreach initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall travel experience and strengthening public engagement.
The celebrations began with the rendition of “Vande Mataram” in front of the terminal building under the national flag. An awareness drive involving airport staff, stakeholders and schoolchildren was organised to promote environmental responsibility, passenger facilitation and public participation.
A special musical performance by a band of visually impaired artists inside the terminal building received an enthusiastic response from passengers and visitors. The cultural programme also featured performances showcasing India’s rich heritage, including Bharatanatyam and a traditional local dance depicting Vitthal Puja.
Passengers arriving at Pune Airport were welcomed with a traditional tika ceremony, creating a memorable travel experience. Special assistance was extended to Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and frequent flyers throughout the day.
As part of its sustainability initiatives, the airport distributed fruit-bearing saplings, including jamun and mango, to passengers to encourage environmental stewardship. A tree plantation drive was also conducted at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pune Airport, with participation from students and airport representatives.
Several health and wellness programmes were organised for passengers and stakeholders. A blood donation camp was held in association with the Red Cross Society at the arrival hall. An eye check-up camp for commercial drivers was conducted at the Multi-Level Car Parking (MLCP) facility, while free health screening services were made available to passengers in the security hold area.

To enhance passenger engagement, Pune Airport introduced an immersive Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) Experience Zone. The facility offered interactive simulations of aircraft take-offs and landings, exploration of the solar system and a virtual walk on the lunar surface. A dedicated gaming zone was also set up in the security hold area.
Community outreach initiatives included guided airport tours for school and college students to familiarise them with airport operations and create awareness about career opportunities in the aviation sector. The initiative generated significant interest among participating students.
The event also saw active participation from the Red FM team, which interacted with passengers and airport stakeholders to capture their experiences and highlight the importance of passenger-centric services.
A Waste-to-Art Exhibition emerged as one of the key attractions of the celebrations. The exhibition featured creative portraits and installations made from discarded cloth pieces and other reusable materials, highlighting the potential of transforming waste into meaningful works of art while promoting sustainable practices.
The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from passengers, students, airport stakeholders, airline personnel and airport staff, reinforcing Pune Airport’s commitment to providing a seamless, inclusive and memorable travel experience.
