Srinagar, 23rd June 2026: Ahead of the commencement of the annual Amarnath Yatra on July 3, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has released revised fares for buses, taxis, maxi cabs, auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws to facilitate the movement of pilgrims travelling to the holy cave shrine.

The revised fare list has been issued to ensure transparency and prevent the overcharging of devotees arriving from different parts of the country for the 57-day pilgrimage, which will conclude on August 28. The move comes amid repeated complaints from pilgrims regarding arbitrary fare collection during previous editions of the yatra.

According to the new fare structure, bus fares from Jammu Bus Stand to Katra have been fixed at ₹74 for semi-deluxe buses, ₹103 for deluxe buses and ₹123 for super deluxe services. From Jammu Railway Station to Katra, the fares have been set at ₹92, ₹127 and ₹155, respectively.

For longer routes, passengers travelling from Jammu to Srinagar will pay ₹468 for semi-deluxe buses, ₹649 for deluxe services and ₹793 for super deluxe buses. The administration has also notified fares for routes connecting Jammu with Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Banihal and Poonch.

In Kashmir Valley, the fare for travelling from Srinagar to Baltal has been fixed at ₹175 per passenger by bus and ₹386 by taxi. Pilgrims travelling from Srinagar to Pahalgam will have to pay ₹173 by bus and ₹384 by taxi. Meanwhile, the fare from Baltal to Jammu has been set at ₹643 by bus and ₹1,421 by taxi, while the Pahalgam-to-Jammu route will cost ₹434 by bus and ₹959 by taxi.

The Transport Department has also issued revised rates for local transport services. Petrol-run auto-rickshaws will charge ₹26 for the first kilometre and ₹20 for every subsequent kilometre, while e-autos will charge ₹25 for the first kilometre and ₹20 for every additional kilometre. Drivers have been directed to prominently display approved fare charts inside their vehicles.

Officials have warned that strict action will be taken against transport operators found charging more than the prescribed rates. Vehicles violating the norms could face challans under the Motor Vehicles Act, and repeat offenders risk suspension or cancellation of their route permits.

The administration had carried out similar enforcement drives during last year’s pilgrimage, penalising hundreds of vehicles for overcharging pilgrims. Authorities said the latest fare notification is aimed at ensuring a smoother and more transparent travel experience for devotees undertaking one of the country’s most significant annual pilgrimages.

The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 will commence on July 3 and continue for 57 days, with pilgrims travelling through the traditional Pahalgam route and the shorter Baltal route to reach the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
