MPSC CBT Exam 2026: Preliminary Exams to Be Held Online, Results in 21 Days
Pune, 27th June 2026: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has announced that all its future preliminary examinations will be conducted in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, a move aimed at significantly reducing recruitment timelines. Under the new system, preliminary examination results will be declared within 21 days, while the entire recruitment process will be completed within the same calendar year in which the examination is held.
Announcing the decision, MPSC Chairman Vivek Bhimanwar said the commission has adopted a time-bound recruitment strategy to address long-standing concerns over delays in examination results and subsequent stages of the selection process.
The commission recently declared the results of the State Services Preliminary Examination within 22 days and now plans to reduce the turnaround time to 21 days for all future preliminary examinations.
According to the revised recruitment schedule, selections for posts requiring interviews will be completed within nine to eleven months, while recruitments based solely on written examinations will be finalised within six to seven months. The commission believes the new timeline will reduce uncertainty for aspirants and enable candidates to plan their careers more effectively.
Bhimanwar clarified that the changes are limited to preliminary examinations. The State Services, Group A, Group B, and Group C main examinations will continue to be conducted in the conventional offline mode, with no changes to their examination pattern.
Defending the new system, Bhimanwar said the CBT format and score normalisation process are scientifically designed and have received judicial approval. He added that the commission has successfully conducted 140 examinations using the CBT format, while similar transparent examination systems are already being used for millions of candidates across the country.
