CREDAI Pune Deploys 100 Traffic Wardens to Support Pune Traffic Police During Monsoon
Pune, 3rd July 2026: As Pune gears up for the monsoon season, CREDAI Pune has joined hands with the Pune Traffic Police to strengthen traffic management across the city. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Pune Police, CREDAI Pune has committed to deploying 100 trained traffic wardens to assist the Pune Traffic Police from July to September 2026.
The partnership was formally launched with an induction ceremony, after which the traffic wardens were officially handed over to the Pune Traffic Police. Among those present were Amitesh Kumar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Pune City; Sanjay Darade, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police; Manoj Patil, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune (East); Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic); Manish Jain, President, CREDAI Pune; Sanjay Deshpande, Convener, Police Committee, CREDAI Pune; and Col. Kumar Ramachandran (Retd.), Director General, CREDAI Pune.
The additional traffic wardens will provide crucial support during the monsoon season, when heavy rainfall, ongoing road and Metro works, and increased congestion place additional pressure on traffic management. Their deployment at key junctions is expected to help regulate traffic flow, reduce bottlenecks, and improve commuter safety during peak hours and major public events.
Before taking charge of their duties, all 100 wardens completed a two-day training programme to familiarise themselves with traffic management protocols and field operations.
The wardens will be engaged on a contractual basis and will work daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with scheduled breaks during their shifts. To improve operational efficiency, nearly half of the wardens will be deployed in areas close to their residences, while the remaining personnel will be stationed at key traffic junctions across Pune based on the operational requirements of the Pune Traffic Police.

Commenting on the initiative, Manish Jain, President, CREDAI Pune, said, “At CREDAI Pune, we believe that contributing to the city’s development goes beyond building homes. We are pleased to partner with the Pune Traffic Police in this initiative and support their efforts during the monsoon season. Better traffic management benefits everyone, and we hope this additional manpower will help make daily commuting safer and more convenient for the citizens of Pune.”
Speaking at the inaugural event, Amitesh Kumar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Pune City, said, “I would like to thank the members of CREDAI Pune, especially Manish Jain and Sanjay Deshpande, for extending their support to the Pune Traffic Police through this initiative. All the traffic wardens have undergone the requisite training before being deployed in the field. I urge them to put this training into practice, carry out their responsibilities with sincerity and discipline, and always interact with citizens in a courteous and respectful manner. Their contribution will play an important role in strengthening traffic management across the city during the monsoon season and during major public events.”
Manoj Patil, IPS, Additional Commissioner of Police, Pune (East), who was instrumental in taking forward the MoU, said, “In addition to assisting with day-to-day traffic regulation during the monsoon, the wardens will also support the police during major public events over the coming months, including the Palkhi procession, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, and other occasions that witness a significant increase in vehicular movement, helping ensure smoother traffic flow and enhanced public safety.”
This initiative reflects CREDAI Pune’s continued commitment to supporting civic causes and working alongside public authorities to contribute to the overall well-being of the city and its residents.
