Lonavala, 6th July 2026: Traffic movement on the Pune–Mumbai Expressway has been partially restored after authorities cleared debris caused by a landslide near the Missing Link project late Monday night.

Earlier in the day, traffic on both the Pune–Mumbai Expressway and the old Mumbai–Pune Highway was completely suspended in both directions following a landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall. The closure led to major disruption, with authorities advising commuters to avoid travel between Pune and Mumbai until further notice.

Providing the latest update, Pune Highway Superintendent of Police Shivaji Pawar told Punekar News that the debris on the Pune-bound carriageway near the Connecting (Missing) Link was cleared by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and the construction company at around 10:10 pm.

Following a joint inspection by MSRDC officials, the Road Safety Engineer and the construction company, the affected stretch was declared safe for limited movement. Vehicular traffic has now been restored on two lanes.
However, water continues to flow across the remaining two lanes, and therefore only partial traffic movement has been permitted. Authorities said the remaining lanes will be reopened only after conditions improve and the road is found to be safe.

SP Shivaji Pawar appealed to motorists to exercise caution while travelling through the affected stretch. He urged commuters to follow lane discipline, maintain a safe speed, and strictly comply with the directions issued by the Highway Police and traffic personnel deployed on the route.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as heavy rainfall persists across the region, and commuters are advised to check official traffic updates before undertaking their journey.
