Heavy Rain: Restrictions Imposed at Tourist Spots in Junnar, Ambegaon to Ensure Visitor Safety
Pune, 8th July 2026: In view of the ongoing heavy rainfall in Pune district, the administration has imposed preventive restrictions at several popular tourist destinations in Junnar and Ambegaon talukas to ensure the safety of visitors.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Archana Tambe has issued the prohibitory order following continuous heavy rainfall over the past two to three days, which has significantly increased the risk of accidents at waterfalls, hill passes, forts, dams and other tourist locations.
According to the notification, the restrictions apply to Amboli Waterfall (Daryaghat), Malshej Ghat, Kanchan Waterfall (Hatvij), the Reverse Waterfall at Naneghat, Shivneri Fort, Chavand Fort, Jivdhan Fort, Hadsar Fort, Nimgiri Fort, Ahupe, Dimbhe Dam, Pokhari Ghat in Junnar taluka, as well as Bhimashankar and Kondhaval Waterfall in Ambegaon taluka.
Under the order, tourists are prohibited from entering or swimming in fast-flowing water, standing or sitting beneath waterfalls, taking selfies or filming at dangerous locations, consuming or carrying alcohol at tourist spots, parking vehicles in hazardous areas, driving recklessly, littering public places, harassing women, and playing loud music through DJs, loudspeakers or vehicle-mounted sound systems. Activities causing noise, air or water pollution have also been banned.
The administration has also restricted the entry of two-wheelers, four-wheelers and other vehicles into the vicinity of waterfalls, dams and riverbanks to minimise the risk of accidents during the ongoing spell of heavy rain.
Officials have appealed to residents and tourists to strictly follow the restrictions and cooperate with the administration in ensuring public safety.
The notification warns that violators will face legal action under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws.
