Pune, 13th July 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has expedited the administrative transfer process of the 23 villages merged into the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The scanning and digitisation of official records are in the final stage, and once completed, all documents related to these villages will be formally handed over to the civic body.

The records include approved development plans, land records, Town Planning (TP) scheme documents, and details of ongoing and completed development works. Following the transfer, the PMC will assume full administrative and developmental responsibility for the villages.

The civic body will oversee the implementation of Town Planning schemes, grant development permissions, maintain roads, water supply and sewerage infrastructure, develop public amenities, and execute other urban infrastructure projects. The transfer is expected to streamline governance by bringing all civic services under a single authority.

The handover will also place significant responsibility on the PMC, which will need to coordinate across multiple departments to ensure that pending projects are completed without delay and that ongoing development activities continue seamlessly.

Residents of the 23 merged villages have long demanded improved civic infrastructure since their inclusion within the PMC limits. The civic administration is now expected to strengthen essential services, including roads, drinking water supply, drainage, solid waste management, parks, healthcare facilities and educational infrastructure, through planned urban development.

Officials said the PMC will also be responsible for ensuring the continuity of projects initiated by the PMRDA, resolving pending issues related to Town Planning schemes, and expediting new development proposals. The formal transfer is expected to be completed soon after the digitisation of all records, enabling the PMC to officially take charge of planning, administration and development in the merged villages.
