The largest seizures involved milk consignments. In Phaltan, inspectors allegedly found whey powder, spray-dried products and instant tea-coffee creamer being used to adulterate milk at a cattle shed. A case has been registered against five persons, including the owner and suppliers.
The drive also covered Sangli, Kolhapur, Junnar and Solapur. FDA teams seized 121 kg of paneer and lassi in Sangli, 86 kg of cookies in Kolhapur, and 1,806 litres of milk in Junnar, where the unit has been ordered to suspend operations. In Solapur, 37,532 litres of milk was seized and destroyed after officials found licensing and record-keeping violations.
FDA officials said action against unlicensed operators and sellers of adulterated or substandard food products will continue.
