Pune: Sinhagad Fort Closed to Tourists on August 1 and 2 Amid Red Alert and Landslide Risk
Pune, 31st July 2026: The Pune Forest Division has announced that Sinhagad Fort will remain closed to tourists on August 1 and 2 following a Red Alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for Pune district and the heightened risk of landslides due to heavy rainfall in the region.
In an official press note issued on Friday, the Forest Department said the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors.
According to the department, continuous heavy rainfall in the Sinhagad area has increased the possibility of landslides, making it unsafe for tourists to visit the fort during the two-day period.
The Forest Department has appealed to citizens and tourists to avoid travelling to the Sinhagad region on August 1 and 2 and to cooperate with the administration in the interest of public safety.
The advisory has been issued by the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Pune Forest Division, who urged visitors to strictly follow the restrictions until weather conditions improve.
