Mohammadwadi, 2nd August 2026: Kalepadal police have registered a case, detained 13 riders and their associates, and seized 11 two-wheelers after a group allegedly created panic by riding motorcycles fitted with modified “cracker” silencers in Undri and Mohammadwadi.
Police said the team carried out the operation successfully after examining technical evidence and gathering information from confidential sources.
According to a Pune City Police press note, the incidents occurred between 11 p.m. on July 31 and 5 a.m. on August 1 near Kad Nagar Chowk, Nyati Chowk, Raheja Vista Chowk and surrounding roads.
The modified exhausts allegedly produced loud, firecracker-like sounds, while some of the riders drove dangerously. Videos of the activity were subsequently circulated on social media.
