Pune: Fire Breaks Out at Tea Stall Opposite DMart in Handewadi; Five LPG Cylinders Removed, No Injuries

Handewadi, 4th August 2026: A major fire broke out at around 1:00 am on Tuesday at Premacha Chaha, a tea stall located opposite DMart at Handewadi Chowk. Prompt action by the Pune Fire Brigade brought the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby establishments. No injuries were reported.

According to the kalepadal Fire Brigade, the Central Fire Station received a call about the incident at around 1:00 am. Firefighters rushed to the spot and used water jets to bring the blaze under control. A fire engine from Kondhwa Budruk Fire Station and a water tanker also assisted in the firefighting operation.

During the operation, firefighters safely removed five LPG cylinders from the tea stall, preventing a potentially more serious incident. The fire was completely extinguished after sustained efforts.

Mahendra Kulal, Tandel, kale padal Fire Brigade, said, “Our team responded immediately after receiving the fire call and quickly brought the blaze under control. Five LPG cylinders were safely removed from the tea stall, preventing a major mishap. The fire was completely extinguished, and no one was injured.”

The operation was carried out by Tandel Mahendra Kulal, Driver Kiran Jagtap, and firefighters Nilesh Kane, Vijay Chavan, and Vikas Gaikwad, along with Kondhwa Budruk Fire Station firefighters Shailesh Davane, Tejas Kharivale, and Abhijit Thalkar.

Fire Brigade officials said the exact cause of the fire has not been confirmed, but it could have been caused by a short circuit.
