Pune: Residents to Pay More for Autorickshaw Rides and Ambulance Services From September 1
Pune, 11th August 2026: Pune residents will have to pay more for autorickshaw rides and ambulance services from September 1, after the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) approved revised fares for both services.
Under the revised autorickshaw fare structure, the charge for the first 1.5 km will increase from ₹25 to ₹30, while the fare for every subsequent kilometre will rise from ₹17 to ₹20.
For night journeys, a surcharge of 20% within the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal limits and up to 40% outside the municipal limits has also been approved.
The new autorickshaw fares will be implemented from September 1. The deadline for updating meters with the revised rates has been fixed as February 28. Until the meters are updated, passengers can be charged according to the fare chart issued by the RTO.
Ambulance fares revised
The RTA has also approved new ambulance fares based on the type of vehicle. The revised rates will apply for a period of two hours.
The fare for a Maruti Van will be ₹700, while Maruti Eeco and Tata Magic ambulances will cost ₹900. The fare for a Mahindra Bolero or Force Cruiser will be ₹1,200, while a large ambulance will cost ₹1,400. For a large air-conditioned ambulance, the approved fare is ₹2,500.
For additional distance, charges have been fixed at ₹16, ₹17, ₹18, ₹22 and ₹30 per kilometre, depending on the category of ambulance. Waiting charges will range from ₹125 to ₹250.
Action will be taken against ambulance operators charging more than the rates approved by the RTA. The new regulations also make disinfection of ambulances mandatory after every trip. Owners and drivers will be responsible for ensuring that ambulances remain technically fit, clean and properly maintained.
Changes to autorickshaw stands
The RTO has cancelled approval for the PIC autorickshaw stand near Trimurti Chowk, Suryamukhi Datta Temple autorickshaw stand and the stand on the canal road near the SNDT bus stop.
The Vishrantwadi Chowk autorickshaw stand has been shifted to Kalsgaon, where five autorickshaws will be allowed.
The stand opposite Sanjeevan Hospital has been shifted alongside the hospital wall, with permission for six autorickshaws.
At Pimpri Chowk, the Ratrani autorickshaw stand will be shifted to the rear side of the wall of the Vishwaratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial.
Share-rickshaw services from metro, railway stations
As part of the revised arrangements, the Share-A-Rickshaw scheme will be implemented from 28 metro stations and two railway stations in the city.
Metro and railway authorities have been instructed to display fare charts at designated shared-rickshaw stands, allowing commuters to check the approved fares before travelling.
The revised fares and regulations are expected to increase transportation costs for Pune residents while bringing greater uniformity to autorickshaw and ambulance services.
