Rural Consumers Can Now Book New LPG Cylinders After 25 Days
New Delhi, 9th September 2026: Rural LPG consumers will now be able to book a new cylinder just 25 days after receiving their previous one, following the Centre’s decision to remove the earlier 45-day booking restriction for rural areas.
The revised rule brings rural consumers on par with those in urban areas, where a 25-day gap between two LPG cylinder bookings was already permitted.
The longer 45-day restriction for rural areas had been introduced amid increased demand and supply constraints during the war situation in Middle east. At the time, bookings were permitted after 25 days in urban areas but rural consumers had to wait 45 days before placing a fresh order.
With the LPG supply situation improving and waiting periods reducing, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has now decided to introduce a uniform 25-day booking interval across urban and rural areas.
Under the revised system, consumers can request a fresh cylinder through their gas distributor, following which it will be delivered to their registered address. The revised rules are applicable to domestic LPG consumers in both urban and rural areas.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has directed Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, along with other oil marketing companies, to implement the revised booking norms across the country with immediate effect.
