Beed-Pune Rail Journey Begins; DCM Sunetra Pawar Flags Off First Direct Train
Beed/Pune, 17 September 2026: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar inaugurated the first direct Beed-Pune train service by flagging off the Beed-Pune Inaugural Special from Beed Railway Station on Thursday, September 17, on the occasion of Marathwada Liberation Day.
The inaugural train, numbered 01401, departed from Beed for Pune amid celebrations at the railway station. The service marks the beginning of direct rail connectivity between Beed and Pune, a long-standing demand of passengers from the region.
The inaugural special will halt at Amalner Bhandyache, New Ashti, Narayandoho, Ahilyanagar, Shrigonda Road, Daund Chord Line and Uruli before reaching Pune.
The train has a composition of two AC 2-Tier coaches, three AC 3-Tier coaches, four Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, one Second Seating-cum-Guard’s Brake Van and one Generator Van.
Regular daily Pune-Beed service to follow
The inaugural special will be followed by the regular Pune-Beed-Pune Daily Express, numbered 11434/11433. The regular service is scheduled to operate daily, with detailed timings and stoppages to be notified separately by the railway authorities.
The service has been introduced following the commissioning of the Ahilyanagar-Beed section of the Ahilyanagar-Beed-Parli Vaijnath New Line Project.
Sunetra Pawar recalls Ajit Pawar’s commitment
Addressing the gathering, Sunetra Pawar recalled that during Ajit Pawar’s tenure as Guardian Minister of Beed district, railway connectivity had been given priority. She referred to the launch of the Beed-Ahilyanagar railway service on September 17, 2025, when a commitment was made that passengers would be able to travel directly from Beed to Pune by train the following year.
She said the inauguration on the same date in 2026 marked the fulfilment of that commitment. She also spoke about the possibility of introducing a direct Beed-Panvel railway service in the coming months.
She further said that completion of the Beed-Parli railway line would provide connectivity towards South India and contribute to increased movement along the route.
Awards were also presented to school students who performed well in essay and drawing competitions based on the theme ‘Indian Railways’ Contribution to the Development of Maharashtra State.’

The programme also included tributes to martyrs and freedom fighters associated with the Marathwada Liberation Struggle.
Sunetra Pawar said the government was committed to the development of Beed district and improving the standard of living of its residents.
