‘Keep Dumpers Out’: Hundreds Protest Heavy Vehicles in Mohammadwadi

Pune, 22nd September 2026: Hundreds of residents from Raheja Reserve, Nyati, Undri and nearby residential areas gathered for a protest on Tuesday evening, demanding restrictions on the movement of dumpers, ready-mix concrete (RMC) trucks and other heavy vehicles on residential roads.

The protest was organised by the Sikh Helpline Foundation, led by its founder Raj Singh, following concerns raised by residents over road safety and a recent fatal accident in the area.

The protesters have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pune Police to restrict heavy commercial vehicles from using residential roads, particularly stretches that they claim are narrow, incomplete or heavily used by pedestrians, children and senior citizens.

Among their key demands are completion of pending roads, stricter traffic enforcement and a joint meeting with the PMC Commissioner and Pune Police Commissioner to discuss road safety measures.
₹1 Crore compensation sought
The protesters have also demanded ₹1 crore compensation for the family of the person who died in the recent accident.

“We have repeatedly warned the authorities about the danger posed by heavy vehicles in our residential areas. Now a precious life has been lost. We cannot remain silent and wait for another tragedy,” Raj Singh said.
