Pune Police Announce Traffic Diversions for Navratri from October 11 to 20
Pune, 10th October 2026: Pune City Traffic Police have announced road closures, diversions and parking restrictions for the Navratri festival, which will be celebrated from October 11 to 20, 2026. The measures will cover areas around the Chatushrungi, Bhavani Mata and Tambdi Jogeshwari temples, where large numbers of devotees are expected.
According to a press note issued on October 9, the changes are intended to facilitate access for devotees and prevent traffic congestion. Some restrictions and diversions will be implemented as required, depending on traffic conditions and crowd levels.
One-Way Traffic at Appa Balwant Chowk
The road from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will be closed to traffic, while vehicles will be allowed to travel in the opposite direction, from Budhwar Chowk to Appa Balwant Chowk.
Motorists affected by the restriction can proceed from Appa Balwant Chowk via the Gadgil statue and Shivaji Road to reach their destinations. Police said the change would be implemented as needed.
Restrictions Around Bhavani Mata Temple
Mahatma Phule Road in front of Bhavani Mata Temple, between Ramoshi Gate Chowk and Juna Motor Stand, will be closed to vehicles in both directions, except those providing essential services.
The stretch will also be designated a no-parking zone. Motorists have been directed to use designated parking zones on Nehru Road and other nearby roads.
Vehicles approaching from Sant Kabir Chowk and travelling through Ramoshi Gate towards Bhavani Mata Road will be diverted left at A.D. Camp Chowk, towards Bharat Cinema and Padamji Chowki Chowk, before turning right towards Juna Motor Stand.
Police will also temporarily relax the one-way restriction on a section of Jadhav Road during the festival to accommodate an alternative route towards Juna Motor Stand.
PMPML buses travelling through Ramoshi Gate will be routed via Seven Loves Chowk, with left turns towards Golibar Maidan Chowk and then Swargate Chowk, to reduce congestion around the temple.
Entry Curbs Near Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple
Entry to Tambdi Jogeshwari Road from Ganpati Chowk on Laxmi Road towards the temple will be prohibited. Vehicles approaching the temple from the Sakal Press side will also be barred, except those providing essential services.
Motorists travelling along Laxmi Road who would otherwise turn towards the temple at Ganpati Chowk should continue to Sevasadan Chowk, turn right onto Bajirao Road and proceed through Appa Balwant Chowk towards Shaniwar Wada.
Parking restrictions will apply, as required, around Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple in Budhwar Peth, Ashtabhuja Devi Temple in Shaniwar Peth and Ashtabhuja Durgadevi Temple in Narayan Peth for the 10-day festival period. Existing parking arrangements on the affected roads will be temporarily suspended.
Devotees have been advised to use parking facilities on the riverbed road between Tilak Bridge and Bhide Bridge, designated parking facilities at Mandai, and authorised roadside parking zones in the area.
Conditional Diversions on Senapati Bapat Road
Traffic changes around Chatushrungi Temple will depend on congestion on Senapati Bapat Road.
If crowds cause traffic jams, vehicles approaching the Senapati Bapat Road junction from Patrakar Nagar Chowk may be channelled through Shivaji Housing Chowk, using the left side of Senapati Bapat Road as a one-way route.
If congestion increases further, vehicles may be diverted away from the temple approach through Vetalbaba Chowk and Deep Bungalow Chowk, or from Shivaji Housing Chowk via the Om Super Market route.
Devotees approaching from Cosmos Junction have been advised to reach the Polytechnic ground parking area via Shivaji Housing Chowk, K. Sawant Chowk and Firodia Path.
Those coming from Veer Chaphekar Chowk can reach the parking area via Surymukhi Datta Mandir Chowk, Thorat Chowk and Deep Bungalow Chowk, or through Sanganna Dhotre Path and Khau Galli from Ganeshkhind Road.
Traffic police have urged motorists to avoid restricted roads, use the designated alternative routes and cooperate with personnel managing traffic during the festival.
