Pune, 8th January: Indian meteorological department (IMD) on Thursday predicted moderate rainfall in five districts including Pune. A new low-pressure area has formed in the Arabian sea, which is responsible for this sudden change in weather.

According to the information given by IMD, there is constant up-down in temperature since the last two weeks in the state. Earlier there was a cold wave in some parts of northwestern states of the country which was creating weather disturbance in Maharashtra.

Recently a new low-pressure area is formed in the Arabian sea from the Karnataka coastline to Maharashtra coastline. It is intensifying and the rain clouds are gathered over Western ghats. Therefore these five districts – Pune, Ratnagiri, Thane, Nasik and Raigad- will receive moderate to heavy rainfall till 9th January.

Meanwhile, IMD recorded 31.1 degree Celsius maximum temperature and 18.0 degree Celsius minimum temperature in the city on Thursday.
