Pune Rural Police Bust Gang Of Thieves; Vehicles Worth Rs 77 Lakh Seized

Pune, 25th May 2021: The local crime branch (LCB) of Pune rural police has arrested a gang of four persons for stealing and selling tractors of farmers from different parts of the district during the lockdown.

 

Police have seized 10 tractors, two pickups, two jeeps, six two-wheelers, six cows, and other materials, totally worth Rs 77 lakh.

 

Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Dr Abhinav Deshmukh informed about the operation during a press conference. LCB Police Inspector Padmakar Ghanwat and Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Kale were also present at the conference.

 

The arrested persons have been identified as Satish Ashok Rakshe (28) of Belwandi in Shrigonda taluka of Ahmednagar district, who resides in Shirur, Dnyandev alias Mauli Vinayak Nachbone (30) of Shirur, Pravin Kailas Korde (29) of Bori in Junna and Sunil Urpabhau Vibhishan Devkate (31) of Barshi in Solapur.

 

The LCB had received information that Rakshe, Dnyanedav, and Korde were bringing different tractors and other vehicles when they were not working. Accordingly, the LCB detained Rakshe. During interrogation, he confessed to stealing a tractor belonging to farmers from Shirur, and Junnar talukas in Pune district, and Parner in Ahmednagar district with the help of his accomplices.

 

According to police, the gang has committed 12 thefts in Shirur, Alephata, Narayangaon, Khed, Yavat, and Manchar in Pune rural, eight in Belwandi and Parner in Ahmednagar district, and one in Barshi in Solapur. The accused also confessed to stealing dairy animals.

 

Police officials said that the main accused Rakshe had taken a car and a pickup after taking out a loan. However, due to debt, he chose to steal vehicles and dairy animals. For this, he enlisted the help of his brother-in-law Korde. Both started stealing together during the lockdown. After that, Dnyandev became their accomplice in the thefts.

 

The investigation was carried out by LCB under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Dr Abhinav Deshmukh, Additional SP Milind Mohite, Inspector Ghanwat, API Sachin Kale, and police personnel Dattatraya Giramkar, Umakant Kunjir, Janardan Shelke, Sachin Gaikwad, Dattatraya Tambe, Deepak Sable, Raju Momin, Ajit Bhujbal, Guru Jadhav, Mangesh Thigale, Sandeep Ware, Jitendra Mandge, and Akshay Jawale.
