Pune : Project “Aasra” is an ‘I Care’ initiative in collaboration with ‘Sahyadri Nature Foundation’, where 10 to 15 youths are working in a slum named Ishrat Baugh in Kondhwa to make it an ideal slum.

The initiative was taken by the founder of I care, Mohammad Saif, who with his continuous efforts and hard work has managed to build a highly energetic and motivated team for “Aasra”.

“We have volunteers and members from different backgrounds including engineers, lawyers, doctors, and artists who are working in shifts with two batches from 8.30 am to 10 am and 3:30 pm to 5 pmon Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and on Saturday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. We have rented out a place in the same locality for this purpose. Initially, the plan was to work with 6th to 8th grade students but since we received students from all grades, we did not want to miss the opportunity of teaching them as well”, Saif told Punekar News.

The youths are trying to implement different teaching strategies that will work best for these kids to make them more responsible citizens of India.

“None the less, we would love to hear from more people about their opinions, creative ideas and guidance on keeping our efforts and hard work sustained for a longer period of time and for our goal to be achieved as a society towards a better tomorrow. We will put all our efforts to make the dwellers of this slum become socially responsible, economically stable and politically alert by organising various educational & entrepreneurship workshops, seminars, etc”, Saif further added.

Team member Kamlesh Sonawane informed, “ Team I Care’s vision and Sahyadri Nature Foundation’s dedication has brought a hope in the life of these underprivileged children. It’s a step towards a civilized society and everyone should contribute in whatever way possible.”

Another member Aleeza Shaikh added, “For those of you who’ve wanted to make a difference in the life of the poor, it time you take a step. Come, lets be the change we are looking for.”
