Access Denied: International Travelers Barred from Pune Airport Lounge
Pune, 22nd May 2023: International travelers face surprising lounge access denial at Pune International Airport. This decision has sparked confusion among passengers, who have promptly raised the issue with the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in hopes of a swift resolution.
Pune International Airport, which offers connectivity to destinations such as Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok, witnesses a significant number of passengers traveling on international flights. Unfortunately, these travelers may now face disappointment as they are barred from accessing the only lounge at the airport.
One disgruntled passenger, Shamshuddin S Kazi, took to Twitter to express their surprise and frustration. He tweeted, “Travelling from Pune to Dubai by SpiceJet. Surprised to know lounge access is available only for domestic fliers and international passengers don’t have access. Request to resolve urgently on top priority.”

In response to passenger complaints, the AAI Pune issued a statement expressing regret for the inconvenience caused. They clarified that the current restriction is an interim arrangement and reassured travelers that all international flights will soon be relocated to the New Terminal building, which will feature a fully equipped Security Hold Area (SHA) with lounge access.
We have noted your feedback and regret the inconvenience caused. Please note that this is an interim arrangement and we shall soon be moving all International flights to the New Terminal building which will have a full fledged SHA with Lounge access.
