AFMC Pune Hosts GERICON 2025, Showcasing Innovations in Geriatric Care
Pune, 16th November 2025: GERICON 2025: “Collaborative Care in Geriatrics – Advancing Towards an Age-Friendly Healthcare System”- The Department of Geriatric Medicine, AFMC pune successfully hosted GERICON 2025, the 22nd Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics, at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune from 13-15 Nov 2025.
The three-day national conference brought together clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and allied health professionals from across India and abroad to advance the cause of age-friendly healthcare in the country.
The theme for the year — “Collaborative Care in Geriatrics: Advancing Towards an Age-Friendly Healthcare System” — underscored the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork to enhance health outcomes, functional independence, and quality of life for older adults. The sessions were facilitated by leading experts including Dr. Niharika Suchak, Dr. Maw Pin Tan, Dr. Anand Ambali, Dr. Chandershekhar Guru, and Dr. Parikshit Sanyal. The Journal of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics was also released during the conference. The Presidential Oration was delivered by Dr. Surekha V on the inspiring theme “Go Light Your World.”

The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Niharika Suchak on “The 4Ms of Geriatrics: Advancing Towards an Age-Friendly Health Care System”.
Various orations were delivered by eminent experts in the field of Geriatric Medicine. The events included plenary lectures, symposia, panel discussions, and oral/poster presentations exploring diverse domains including frailty, sarcopenia, geriatric oncology, cognitive health, rehabilitation, ethics, and community geriatrics.
The global perspective on Geriatric Medicine was highlighted by an International faculty including Dr. Irma Everink (Netherlands) and Dr. Tohru Minamino (Japan).
