After Citizens Raise Noise Pollution At Night Due To Pune Metro Girder Work By Tata Infra, PCMC And PMRDA Scramble For Action

Pimpri Chinchwad, 16th February 2022: The residents of Akshara Elementa society in Tathawade and surrounding buildings are having sleepless nights these days due to noise pollution. Tata Infra has set up a plant near the society for erecting girders required for the construction of Pune Metro.
After several complaints from people, Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society Federation shared a video on Twitter by tagging Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In the video, the federation pointed out the ongoing work at night near the Akshara Elementa Society. Tata Infra got a notice a few days ago to stop the work at night.
The federation stated that the work is causing noise and light pollution due to Tata Infra’s metro girder night work at the plant. Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society tweeted,
“वाचवा, वाचवा, वाचवा! अक्षरा एलिमेंटा हाउसिंग सोसायटी रहिवाश्यांना ह्या मानसिक छळापासून. टाटा इन्फ्रा कंपनीच्या मेट्रो गर्डरचा प्लांटमधील रात्री सुरू असलेल्या कामामुळे ध्वनी आणि प्रखर उजेडाचे प्रदूषण रोज पहाटेपर्यंत चालू आहे”

By replying to this tweet, citizens showed their anger on Twitter,
“It has been going on for a while even after the warning by Wakad Police. Hard to believe some people are beyond the law” ;
“All such work and any other activities must follow the noise and air pollution laws. If it’s in residential premises then must and should follow timings, it’s frustrating and irritating” ;
“Where is Noise pollution law?”
Sachin Londhe, Joint Treasurer, Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society informed that a few days ago, Tata Infra was ordered to stop night work. “Akshara Elementa Society wants justice. For two days the federation will keep a close eye on this matter or otherwise we will agitate with the society”, Londhe added further.
While talking on this issue with Punekar News, Tejaswini Dhomse Sawai, president, Pimpri Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Society, said, “I and Sachin personally went to the location yesterday night (February 15) and we saw like five big cranes and 7 to 8 floodlights which were directly focusing on the flats. The work wrapped up at around 2:30-3 am which is definitely causing trouble to the residents of Akshara Elementa. We will wait till tomorrow, if the situation does not change then there will be a protest against this.”
Speaking to Punekar News, PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil said that he has escalated the matter to PMRDA Commissioner. “Citizens should not be harassed”, he said.
When contacted, PMRDA Commissioner Suhas Diwase said, “I received a message from PCMC Commissioner and secretary of Pimpri Chinchwad Housing Federation in this regard. We have issued instructions to take immediate action to resolve the issue. Tata Infra officials are meeting the society members to discuss and take corrective action”.
This is effecting the nearby resident……lot of noise and dust…..requesting the authority to take required measure and stop the night work……

@DGPMaharashtra can u please look at it? Even after several complaints to @PuneCityPolice @CPPuneCity no action is taken and this construction work is still disturbing all the residents from 900+ flats from Elementa and many more from the neighbor societies.
Please take action.
