New Delhi, 13th June 2021: After the controversy over the statement of senior party leader Digvijay Singh on Article 370, the Congress has asked all its leaders to follow the resolution passed by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on the issue on August 6, 2019.

The resolution said, “The Congress Working Committee condemns the unilateral, brazen and wholly undemocratic manner in which Article 370 of the Constitution was repealed and the State of Jammu and Kashmir was divided by misinterpreting the provisions of the Constitution.”

It is said that Pakistani journalists were also present in Digvijay’s clubhouse chat and response to his question, he talked about rethinking Article 370. In the audio chat, Digvijay says, ‘When Article 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir, then democratic values were not followed. During this, neither humanity was taken care of nor Kashmiriyat. Everyone was put behind bars. If the Congress government comes to power, we will reconsider this decision and restore Article 370.”

Reacting to Digvijay’s statement, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has sought an answer from Congress interim president, Sonia Gandhi, terming this statement as a “Pakistani mentality of Congress”.

On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra reminded the old statements of all Congress leaders from Rahul Gandhi to Mani Shankar Aiyar, in which Pakistan was supported on various issues.
