After Losing Two, Pune Races to Bring Back 520 Tourists from Kashmir Safely

Pune, 24th April 2025: In a tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, two tourists from Pune—Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote—lost their lives. Two women from the same family, Pragati and Asavari Jagdale, sustained minor injuries. The victims were part of a joint family trip and had traveled to Kashmir just four days earlier.
Jagdale, a resident of Dnyandeep Colony in Karvenagar, and Ganbote, from Kondhwa Budruk, were close friends and business partners in a traditional snacks distribution business. Police were deployed in the areas on Wednesday (23rd April) to manage the situation and offer support to grieving relatives.
District authorities have confirmed that a total of 520 tourists from Pune city and district had traveled to various parts of Jammu and Kashmir—some independently and others through tour companies. In response to the incident, the District Administration promptly activated a helpline service on Tuesday (22nd April) night to gather information and reassure families. All other tourists have been reported safe.
Efforts are currently underway to facilitate the safe return of all Pune tourists. The Disaster Management Department is in contact with the families and coordinating their travel. Vitthal Banote, Head of the Department, stated that arrangements are being made to bring them back at the earliest.
